McMachines Not Working

I've had enough with my local McDonald's, to put it mildly. There never seems to be a time when the ice cream machines are operational, the workers are highly inefficient, and the place isn't open 24 hours as advertised. Luckily in America there's an overabundance of McDonalds's locations that I could go to as an alternative, but this particular location is pretty unreliable.

Whenever I'm craving a chocolate shake or M&M Mcflurry, Bartlett McDonald's never comes through for me. The machines are always "broken" no matter what. This happens so often that I go out of my way to the neighboring town to their McDonald's location. It's truly infuriating, because this other location always has their ice cream machines operational. I did some research, and a source attached below informed me that McDonald's ice cream machines require specifically trained people to fix these machines, which could take months. Whether that's true in this case, who knows. Also, the last 2 times I've went to my McDonald's past midnight, once in August and once around Thanksgiving, the credit card machines are "broken." I have cash on me, but I don't want to pay cash, especially if my order is $20+ since I'm ordering for multiple people. You might as well be closed if your credit card machine doesn't work. I've been to many other McDonald's and haven't had nearly as many problems as this specific location.

If you ever crave some McDonald's ice cream or want to use your credit card to pay in the drive-thru, my advice is to avoid the McDonald's in Bartlett, IL. There are many other nearby locations that are totally operational and efficient.

Doc Project

Whether I watch a movie, TV show, or documentary, I never really paid close attention to the cinematic elements that make up a film. After sitting down and digesting my documentary of choice for this project,  Cartel Land,  I found that devices such as sound or music greatly contribute to making a film enjoyable to watch that keeps you thinking afterwards.           I went back and rewatched a couple scenes from Cartel Land for analytical purposes with a strong focus on the filmmaker's choices of music. There were two scenes in particular in which music played an instrumental role in forming how the audience should view certain people. One scene used upbeat, triumphant music while Dr. Morales, the leader of the Autodefensas (armed citizenry) gave a speech in a town square in front of the local people. Without music during this scene, the audience would likely have had to come up with their own interpretation of Morales' character. Similarly, when ...

Don't Hate on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving truly is one of the greatest holidays, and I honestly don't care what anyone else says. But since I'm writing this, obviously I do. Far too many people dump on Thanksgiving for whatever reasons they have ("the food is gross") but many times when pressed on why they dislike it, they struggle to come up with an answer. Keep in mind these are largely the same people who consider you immoral if you utter anything negative about Halloween, which is overrated by the way. Thanksgiving is unique and happens once a year, so let's all just enjoy it. I will concede and admit I understand the perspective that the food isn't the greatest (I still disagree) since I'm a picky eater, but we really only have an excuse to stuff our faces with turkey, potatoes, mac n cheese, ham, and desserts once a year. Can you think of another holiday when it's acceptable to consume that much food? No! And if you don't like the food and it's an issue, by all mean...

Introduction

Here we go, the required "tell me about yourself" post. In case you're wondering, it took me several days to write three complete paragraphs about myself, which should be easy considering this is the subject I should know the most about. This isn't because I live a boring life, in fact just the opposite. It's just something that feels a little weird to do behind a screen. Who knows maybe it's just me. But anyway, let's get on to the basics. I'm from Bartlett, IL, which is about 45 minutes north of NCC, 25 minutes if I'm the one driving. I compete on the golf team here at North Central and I am a business administration major.      I played baseball and basketball for as long as I could remember, but after stepping out of my comfort zone I discovered golf and soon fell in love with it. Ever since I was 10, not a day went by where I wasn't swinging a golf club. I'm so addicted to this game that I would practice outside in the snow. Eve...
